Vimlo privacy policy

Last updated:

Vimlo keeps your training data on your phone. It has no account, no server, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. Auraware never receives what you enter into the app.

Scope

This policy covers the Vimlo mobile application for Android and iOS, published by Auraware. The Auraware website has its own privacy policy.

The short version

  • There is no Vimlo account, login or sign-up.
  • Everything you enter is stored only on your phone. Vimlo has no server, and Auraware has no copy of your data.
  • The app contains no analytics, crash-reporting or advertising code, and does not track you.
  • Purchases are handled entirely by Google Play or the App Store.
  • You can export your data, or delete all of it, from inside the app.

What the app stores on your phone

To build and guide your plan, Vimlo stores the following on your device, in the app's private storage:

  • Your profile — height, preferred units, and, if you choose to give them, your year of birth and sex; the equipment you have; which endurance activities you can do; and the fitness levels from the starting assessment.
  • Your goal and schedule — your target, target date, the days you can train and how long a session can be.
  • Your plan — the generated weeks, sessions and exercises.
  • Your training log — the sessions you started or finished, and the sets, reps, times, distances, weights, effort ratings and notes you recorded.
  • Body mass — the measurements you log.
  • Exercises you excluded because they caused pain, so the plan stops using them.
  • Your settings — reminder times and quiet hours, illustration and animation preferences, and similar choices.
  • Unlock status — whether you have bought the unlock, and when your free trial started.

Some of this is health-related information. It never leaves your phone unless you move it yourself, as described below.

What leaves your phone

Vimlo's own code makes no network requests and sends nothing to Auraware. Information can leave your phone only in the following ways.

Purchases and the free trial

The one-time unlock is bought through Google Play or the App Store. The store handles your payment and your store account; Vimlo receives only a confirmation that the unlock is owned, which it keeps on your phone so the app works offline. Auraware does not receive your payment details, name or email address from the store for using the app.

On Android, the app includes Google's Play Billing Library, which communicates with Google Play to carry out purchases and may send Google diagnostic information about those purchase interactions. This is why the Android app declares network access. That information goes to Google, under Google's privacy policy; Auraware does not receive it.

On iPhone, Apple requires a free trial to be started as a free in-app purchase, so starting the 30-day trial there is recorded by the App Store against your Apple account, under Apple's privacy policy. On Android the trial starts on your phone alone.

Backups you export

Settings → Export backup creates a file containing your Vimlo data (everything above except your unlock status) and hands it to your phone's share sheet. Where it goes — a file, a cloud drive, an email — is your choice, and it is then held under the terms of wherever you put it. Vimlo never uploads it anywhere by itself.

Your phone's own backup

Vimlo keeps its data out of cloud backups: it is not included in Google backup on Android, or in iCloud or computer backups on iPhone, even when those are turned on. Your training data therefore never sits in a Google or Apple cloud account.

On Android, the direct phone-to-phone transfer offered when you set up a new phone (by cable or a local Wi-Fi connection) can still copy Vimlo's data across; that transfer does not go through the cloud. The reliable way to move to a new phone on either platform is Settings → Export backup on the old one and the matching import on the new one.

Notifications

Reminders are scheduled on your phone and shown by your phone; no notification is sent from a server. A reminder names the kind of session it is about (for example, “Upper body today”), so, depending on your phone's settings, that text may be visible on the lock screen.

Permissions the app asks for

  • Notifications — to show session reminders. Optional; the app works without it.
  • Run at startup (Android) — so reminders survive a restart of your phone.
  • Vibration (Android) — to signal the end of a rest timer.
  • Billing and network access (Android) — used by Google Play's billing component for purchases, as described above. Vimlo's own code does not use the network.

Vimlo does not ask for your location, contacts, photos, camera, microphone, or health-platform data such as Google Health Connect or Apple Health.

What we do not do

We do not collect, sell or share your personal information. We do not run analytics or advertising, we do not build a profile of you, and we do not track you across other apps or websites. There is no Vimlo mailing list.

Deleting your data

Settings → Delete all my data erases everything Vimlo stores about you on your phone and cancels its reminders. Two small facts survive it on purpose: whether you own the unlock, and when your free trial started — so deleting your data neither makes you buy the app again nor restarts the trial. Uninstalling the app removes everything it stored.

Deleting does not reach copies outside the app: backup files you exported are yours to delete where you keep them. Your purchase record stays with your Google Play or Apple account.

Your rights

Under the federal Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable provincial privacy law, you may ask what personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct or delete it. For Vimlo, Auraware holds none: your data is on your phone, where you can see it in the app, export it, correct it, or delete it at any time.

Questions or requests go through our contact form, choosing “Privacy or data request”. Anything you send there is handled under the website privacy policy. We respond within 30 days, at no charge. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

Children

Vimlo has no minimum age. Because the app collects no personal information from anyone — nothing you enter leaves the phone — it collects none from children either. Purchases are made through the Google Play or Apple account on the phone, under that account's own rules for younger users, such as family purchase approval.

Health information

Vimlo is a training tool, not a medical device, and it does not give medical advice. The health-related details you enter are used only on your phone, to build and adjust your plan.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page. If a future version of Vimlo changes what leaves your phone, this policy will say so before that version is released.
